What can we as teachers learn from PBL? This is a question that someone can take and write a book with in all honesty. There is so much that we as teachers can learn from project based learning or PBL. In The Seven Essentials For Project Based Learning it shows exactly what project based learning is, I believe that every teacher should use pbl in some form. The only way for pbl to be effective is that the students are interested in the project. If students are not interested in the project given there is not point in giving the students a project to begin with. In the next video Mr. Tony Vincent quotes Einstein in saying, "I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn". This is project based learning in a nut shell. We as teachers do not teach our student, but give them a topic or question and let their creativity take off.
In the video PBL: What motivates Students Today real students are interviewed about what motivates them. This can help us teachers understand ways that we can help our students want to learn. The most overwhelming answer from students is that they liked to be rewarded for their work, which makes sense. We as adults also like to be rewarded for our hard work. There are many positives to project based learning for teachers as well as students. But there are more ways to still be discovered.

What can we learn from Randy Pausch?
There are three topics that Mr. Pausch discussed that should pertain to your career choice, your dreams, enabling the dreams of others and the lessons you learn. First he discusses achieving your dreams. He says that in order to achieve anything in life we must be able to do it in full, and not quit halfway there. He says a major key is that helping others live their dreams will help us achieve our own.
Mr. Pausch has a theory that educator's should always be expanding our mind. He says that when we do this it will help us help others. This will pay off in the long run when we achieve what we are trying to do.
Mr. Pausch is just a man with a vision who is putting it to use. His vision is to make a difference and he wants to help future educators make a difference as well. I hope that i can take what Mr. Pausch and apply it in my classroom so I can also inspire others.

Conversing with Anthony Capps:
After watching the video with MR. Anthony Capps I saw first hand just how effective project based learning can be. All of the projects that he used in his classroom covered multiple subjects, which I found very useful. If a teacher can use one project that cuts down on the time a teacher has to set aside for multiple projects when we can use one project. I also learned that a lot of thought and preparation goes into setting up projects for the class. If a teacher doesn't look into the projects they assign then the students won't want to take part in the projects.
I really like the video "Don't teach tech use it", I learned a lot. As a PE major I repeatedly think how am i going to incorporate technology into my classroom. After watching this video I have learned that its not strictly about using technology in my classroom in the future but rather incorporating it. There are many electronic items i can incorporate in my classroom.

Technology is gradually moving into classrooms around the world. This is even more prevelant in America. Technology allows teachers as well as students to broaden their learning spectrum. Technology also allows students to teach themselves, which in some regards is scary. There are ways as students and teachers to control what our children are doing on the internet, using apps and parental protection software. If a child has their own source of technology in the classroom then they can learn at their own speed, say each child has an ipad in the classroom. They can now study, do homework, and research on their own.
In the video 10 reasons to use technology, there are many obvious reasons to use technology in a classroom made obvious in the video. Students already use so much technology on a daily basis that incorporating their homework would probably encourage them to do it more often. The technology resource is also very useful for teachers. Let's be honest we as educators are expected to have all the answers and we don't, with the use of technology in the classroom we can easily find information we don't know.
With technology in classrooms we can show the student real world problems the minutes they happen. As a senior in high school most students are worried what the real world will hold, with technology we can show them real world expenses for those going directly into the workforce so they can understand what they are getting into. As for those expecting to continue their education we can show them litterally what a college class will be like. with some teachers posting their lectures via podcast on the internet. So we can show kids how a college classroom is held.
If we as future educators don't know how to use the internet then we have failed before we set foot in the classroom. I have learned of a few programs that i can successfully use as a coach in the future. I lookto continue to learn about these programms.

So far i have looked up exactly what a PLN is to begin with. Once i figured out what exactly that is i have looked up more examples that teachers have used before. I then began to decide which age group i would want to teach and work with and i decided high school 9-12. This is as far as i have got in making my PLN thus far.

Blog Post 4: What questions do we ask? How do we ask questions?
I believe the most important part of questions is thoroughly thinking about them before asking or making them. This is half the battle alone. As a student we are told that there are no such tings as stupid questions. As a student we don't believe this, but as teachers this is definitely true. In Ben Johnson's "The Right Way to Ask Questions." when he asks have we ever thought how silly a teacher could be. As a student we never really question a teacher's seriousness. He says as a teacher stands in front of so many different students acting like we know everything then go back and asks the students questions kind of contradicts that belief. In "Asking Questions to Improve learning Questioning styles and Strategies" I took away that it is important to not only think about the question you are about to ask but also wait until the speaker is done because you might be asking a question that is about to be answered just shortly. In Joanne Chelsey's YouTube video she talks about open and closed-ended questions. Chelsey says that close-ended questions are structured so that the answer can be yes or no, as where open-ended questions have to have a more in depth answer and usually requires some explanation.

Post 1 by David Warlick is called "20 Mbps & We're still searching the same things." This article showed google searches from 2000 and 2014, and the only difference is the names of the things we are searching for. These items include video games, sports, entertainment, and world shaping issues. I commented that I was shocked how little the list has changed and that this just goes to show that we as Americans are still focusing on the samethings as 14 years ago
Post 2 the article "A nation in Decline", in this article Mr. Warlick addresses the issue of children in lower class and the effects that their test scores are having on teachers. He says that in North Carolina a teacher can be fired if test scores are not where an administrator wants them to be. With 51% of students coming from a lower income home teachers are being set up to fail. If the government does not help our schools this country will never get any smarter. I commented that i agree that our government needs to intervene. If not then nobody will want to be a teacher anymore because of fear of failing.

Blog Post 3 What is Peer Editing?
What is peer editing and how is it useful? Peer editing is very crucial to a students academic career. Peer editing is when a student gets other students to read and edit their work. This is useful because as a student we need to be able to have our work looked at with another perspective. As students we have to realize that we are trying to help each other when we are editing each others work. People can handle constructive criticism but as an editor we have to be careful not to bash or tear down another person's work. If we use harsh comments this will discourage the writer and make them not want to fix their writing and possible keep them from writing in the future.

Blog Post 2: What will teaching be like in the 21st century?
In the first video Professor Dancealot did quite a few things that caught me off guard especially if I was a student in his class. As a teacher the first thing that should have been done is to make sure that all students know what is about to happen, some probably were not expecting him to jump right into demonstrating each dance move, as well as letting the students pair up and practice together. But i do agree that it is crucial to be well organized in class.
After watching Teaching in the 21st Century I feel like Robert is really pushing that each student wants to learn at his or her own pace and should be up to date with the newest technology that is available to use. He also feels that technology is a better way for students to learn as well as study, because technology now can be more interactive then the actual teacher. I also think that as an instructor i shouldn't try to fool anyone out there i don't know everything, and the internet will have more sources and information then i could give.
After watching "The Network Student" I found it really interesting that the teacher somewhat let the child learn at his own pace. Now the student did require some guidance but did most of his learning on his own with technology. I believe that this is the direction that teaching is going as a profession. Where instructors will be more of an adviser rather than an instructor.
After watching " Harness Your Digital Smarts", I once again see that technology is taking over the classroom. This video was very informative especially when it showed how students worked together with their technology, I honestly didn't know that different forms of technology could be used together. Group activities in a class room not only helps the students socialize with each other as well as prepare them for what they are going to do the rest of their lives by working with people
After watching "Flipping the Classroom" I really like the video. This is a great idea by preparing students before class that way they are prepared and know what to expect so nothing surprises them. I also like how the videos can be accessed multiple times, I still have trouble picking up on things the first time I am told or view something. Another great feature is that the students can ask questions which is also very crucial.
After reading coaching in the classroom, I can agree that there are certain aspects of a locker room that can be incorporated into the classroom. The players use film to predict what their opponent will do on the field, and children can do the same in the classroom to predict what will happen next. I also agree that teachers can learn from coaches, in the fact that as a coach we can teach students in a different manner the teachers teach in a class room.

I have taken edm310 once before a year ago, so I know what to expect and what is expected of me. I am a very busy person with school and work, I am a high school football coach and that takes a lot of time. The thing that will be most effective in Edm 310 will be time management for me. As a coach i cannot wait till the last second to take care of business. I may miss out on opportunities such as recruits job offer and other opportunities. The best way for me to conquer this is to do my work early and not wait until the last minute. I really dont have any questions about edm 310 I have already taken it once and know what to expect.

Practice blog post 1
Outline:
1. first paragraph personal (where I'm from, where I graduated, siblings)
2. second paragraph professional (major, why I want to work with children in the school system, professional work background)
My name is Hunter Reid, I am a junior at South Alabama, majoring in Physical Education. I was born and raised here in Mobile. I graduated from Faith Academy a local private school in 2011. I have two younger brothers one is 19 and the other is eight. I have loved sports since I was a very young child. I've always played some kind of sport whether it be baseball, football, or basketball, I have always been around some kind of sport. I have been attending the University of South Alabama for 3 years now, this was actually my third college I have been too, I attended Mississippi College and played football there for a year, and I also attended Bishop State for a semester before coming to south.
I had a difficult time deciding on a major i have actually changed my major three times. I finally decided that Physical education was for me because I want to be a coach at the high school level. I can no longer play the game I love and i love working with high school kids so a physical education degree will be great. I am currently working at Faith Academy with their football team as their offensive line coach as well as their technology coordinator. I had no idea what the title meant and i have greatly enjoyed it. I am attaching a link to my hudl account that will give everyone an insight to what i do for the faith academy football team.

Blog post 13
When I sat down and began to think about a specific field that wasn't covered I thought of my own, coaching. As a coach I know that I won't use as much technology as every day teachers but I will still use technology. I believe maybe a day or two could have been to what coaches can use in a classroom. Other then that I didn't really see anything that wasn't addressed in class.

Blog post 12
For this blog post I chose to write this blog post based on working with blind children. As a teacher it can sometimes be difficult to deal with kids with special needs and abilitys. When working with blind children, one thing I found is screen magnification. This can help students who aren't totally blind. This can be used on the smart board. The next piece of technology is a screen reader, this is used for students can literally touch the screen and the words will be read to them. This can be very useful for students in a large class room or in a one on one basis. The next piece I found is a portable notebook. This can be used by students at any point and they are in braille and when touched the words are spoken out loud to the students. These are just a few of the many ideas that I would incorporate into my classroom in the future.

C4T Summary 3
This week I was assigned to read Mr. Jerrid Kruse's blog post, he talked about how technology is taking over the classroom. In this blog post Mr. Kruse talks about how technology has taken over the classroom and is there really a need for a teacher? While he does raise very good points, I commented that teachers will always be needed in the classroom because students will always have questions or need guidance, and have questions.
Post 2
While reading Mr. Kruse's older blog "Critical Curiosity" he talks about how his students were really shocked by how much he allowed them to use sorts of technology. He ask the students how technology can bring back traditional ways of the classroom as well as reduce the intellectual level of the classroom. This was my reply, Technology can be a good and bad thing in class rooms today. A lot of it depends on the type of students you're teaching. If students cant stay on task then they shouldn't be allowed to use the internet. But on a positive not the internet is full of endless options to be used for students who can handle the privilege.

As part of my C4K I was assigned multiple students in Ms. Squires class. Each students blog was based on a different type of technology they were using in their class in different subjects. One child i was assigned showed us how they used different programs to make a story about a giraffe. I commented that it was really cool that a child that young made a story book. The next student i was assigned told me a story by way of video, on how her class took a trip to the local pool and how she had a great time. I commented that it was awesome that she had a great time and that it is too cold in Alabama for us to go swimming yet. The last blog i read and commented on was a little girl named Ana, she showed me a program that she used to solve math problems, i really like the program and commented that I would keep it in mind when i have my own class.

Sir Ken Robinson is internationally recognized as a leader in the development of creativity, innovation and human resource in development and education. Mr. Robinson says there is a climate crisis, he is referring to human resources. Even though this is not the same as natural resources he says this crisis should be approached in the same way. Most people live life on a day-to-day basis instead of living life to the fullest. A reason people do this is their education background. Education is being reformed every where around us, but this isn't fixing it, its like trying to fix a broken record, you eventually have to replace it. I really enjoyed this video lecture it showed me that i need to start appreciating the little things in life more and not taking days for granted just trying to get through them.

Blog post 9
In this weeks video we learned about what technology Ms. Cassidy's first grade class uses on a regular basis. Some of the technology the kids use in the class room blogs, Skype, and Wiki. The students are also allowed to use computers, smartboards and Nintendo DS. The students especially like blogging because they get input from anybody and everybody who gets on their page. Every time a student writes a blog their grammar improves. There was an example of a student who used Wiki, he was looking up different types of rituals and traditions. Teachers are really pushing the use of Wiki because its a safe way for students to research information on the web without their teachers or parents wondering exactly what they are looking at. The class especially liked using skype. This was a big hit with the class because the students could actually see who was commenting on their blogs and giving them feedback. Reading what someone says is one thing, but actually seeing them and hearing the sincerity in their voice is huge for kids. As a video game player i found it very interesting that the kids were able to learn using the Nintendo Ds. Kids these days play games a lot and the fact that they can now learn using this game system is truly awesome. The game mentioned being used by the students is Nintendog, it helps kids with their reading skills. As a future coach i would probably use Skype the most to talk to other coaches and hopeful prospects around the country.

Blog Post 8
This week I have been challenged to find technology that will improve my students experience in a classroom. As a future PE teacher I did find this somewhat challenging. But here are a few ideas of technology that i could use in a PE class. >
Video games
My first idea that i cam across is to use video games. Yes i know when most people think of video games you think of someone sitting there staring at a screen. But with today's advances in technology kids can do so much more. For example with the Wii gaming system being completely motion controlled there is a game called Wii sports. When a child plays this game they are having to be active while playing, such as making throwing and hitting motions when playing baseball, and making shooting motions when playing basketball. Nike Bands
Another way that i have found where technology can be used in a PE class is a rep counter. Nike has come out with multiple bands that help people track how their training is doing. As a future coach these would be very useful in the weight room for players so they don't have to keep track of exactly how many reps they have done.
Instructional Videos Another way that i have found to bring technology into the PE class is instructional videos. When dealing with younger kids it is easier to show them what to do rather than tell them. With videos this is very easily done, not only will they enjoy watching a video but also be copying the physical activity that is being shown.

With videos this is very easily done, not only will they enjoy watching a video but also be copying the physical activity that is being shown.
